Baton Rouge shoppers can combine fresh local food and handmade art Saturday when the Red Stick Farmers Market and Baton Rouge Arts Market share downtown’s Main Street corridor. Both markets open at 8 a.m. and continue until noon.
The producer-only farmers market brings local fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, breads, dairy products and specialty foods to Fifth and Main streets. The monthly Arts Market adds paintings, jewelry, photography, pottery and other work from area artists.
Admission is free, making the combined markets an easy family outing before lunch at Main Street Market. Shoppers can meet growers and creators, browse locally made goods and experience two downtown traditions in one morning.
