Swamp Haunted Hikes returns to BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center on Friday, October 16, with a nighttime experience created especially for younger children. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. without the scare tactics used at traditional haunted houses.
Families can follow the trail to educational stations about snakes, insects, rats and other creepy critters. Costumed characters share treasures, while the Haunted Maze adds spooky carnival games, a Creepy Cavern, themed arts and crafts and other activities.
Children may wear costumes, and participants should bring a flashlight for the evening program. Every child must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $6 for adults and $8 for children ages 3 and older.
