Bluebonnet Swamp’s Haunted Hikes are designed especially for younger children as an alternative to commercial haunted houses geared toward teens and adults. Along the trail, participants learn about snakes, insects, rats, and other “creepy critters” at educational stations. They can track down costumed characters to collect treasures, then explore the Haunted Maze featuring spooky carnival games, a Creepy Cavern, themed arts and crafts, and more. No scare tactics are used, and children may wear costumes if they choose. Participants should bring a flashlight. Because the program takes place at night, all children must be accompanied by an adult.
