The Country Club of Louisiana has added a new way for members to hit the course, including after the sun goes down.
The St. George club has officially opened The Rook, a six-hole, lighted Par 3 short course designed by golf course architect Bill Bergin of Bergin Golf Designs.
The new course features holes ranging from approximately 50 to 90 yards and is designed for golfers of varying ages and skill levels. The shorter layout can be used for family rounds, junior golf, short-game practice, competitions and casual evening play.
One of the biggest additions is a lighting and sound system that allows The Rook to remain playable after sunset, extending golf hours during the shorter days of fall and winter.
The Rook opened for member play on September 18 following a grand opening celebration the previous evening. The event included ceremonial tee shots, a ribbon cutting and the first official lighting of the course.
The project is part of CCL Forward, a larger capital improvement initiative underway at the Country Club of Louisiana. Other improvements include an upgraded driving range, new chipping and short-game practice areas, a greens nursery and six new pickleball courts.
More changes are on the way. The club plans to begin a comprehensive renovation of its championship golf course and putting green in November 2026, with completion currently targeted for October 2027, weather permitting.
Established in 1986, the Country Club of Louisiana is a private, member-owned club in St. George. Its championship golf course was originally designed by Jack Nicklaus.
