The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging is arranging replacement meals for homebound seniors after 17 meal boxes were not delivered.
The missed Meals on Wheels deliveries involved about $1,000 in meals that were mishandled and spoiled, according to the agency.
The Council on Aging fired two employees in connection with the incident. The agency also said it intends to seek restitution and prosecution.
Replacing the meals is intended to address the immediate impact on seniors who were expecting the deliveries.
