Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol brings a new musical interpretation of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story to the River Center Theatre. Set in the 1930s Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, the production follows Ebenezer Scrooge, the owner of a mining company town, as three ghosts challenge his greed and lead him toward a renewed understanding of love and community.
The national tour features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, a book by David H. Bell, and an adaptation by Bell, Paul T. Couch, and Curt Wollan. The performance includes Dickens’ familiar characters and Parton’s original songwriting.
